What this is
Claim Your Stake is a hobby project that lets you "claim" hexagonal cells of the map by physically standing in them with a GPS-enabled device. It's provided as-is, for fun — not a registry of legal land ownership, and it creates no real-world property rights of any kind.
Accounts
You need an account to claim a hexagon. You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for anything done through your account. Usernames must be appropriate; we can remove or rename ones that aren't.
Claims
Once claimed, a hexagon stays attributed to that claim, even if you later delete your account. Don't claim a hexagon expecting a specific outcome beyond what the app currently shows.
Fair use
Claiming requires a real, reasonably accurate GPS fix from your actual location. Spoofing your location, automating claims, or otherwise trying to game the map is against these terms, and we run automated checks (rate limits, implausible-travel detection) to catch it. Accounts doing this may be suspended.
Pro subscriptions
Pro is an optional paid subscription (monthly or yearly), billed and processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card details. You can cancel any time from Settings; cancelling stops future billing but doesn't refund the current billing period, and Pro features stay available until it ends.
Credits and hex purchases
Credits are purchased with real money, processed by Stripe, and can also be earned for free through referrals, daily claim bonuses, and Pro membership. Once purchased or granted, credits are non-refundable — including if you spend them, if a hex you spent them on is later bought by someone else, or if your account is later suspended or deleted. Spending credits to buy a hex permanently transfers that hex to you, including one another user has already claimed or purchased; the previous owner is not compensated beyond the credits you paid, which land as a straightforward credit balance, not a cash payout. We don't guarantee, broker, or facilitate resale of any hex — buying and selling only ever happens through the credit mechanic built into the app.
Referrals
Referral rewards (credits for successfully referring a new user) are granted once per referred account, automatically, and are subject to the same fair-use rules as claims — we can withhold or reverse rewards resulting from fake accounts, self-referrals, or other abuse of the referral system.
No warranty
The app is provided without warranties of any kind. We're not liable for lost data, downtime, or anything else arising from using it — reasonable efforts are made to keep it running, but nothing here is guaranteed.
Changes
These terms may change as the app changes. Continuing to use it after an update means you accept the new terms.
