MapLeaderboardClaim the hexagon of Earth you're standing on. Free, first come first served.
The world is divided into hexagons about the size of a basketball court (~307 m²). Zoomed out on the map, claims show as a live activity overview; zoomed in to street level, unclaimed hexes are thin outlines and claimed ones are filled in.
Standing in an unclaimed hex, a "Claim Your Stake" button appears once your GPS is accurate to within 25 meters — the server derives which hex you're in from your reported position, so you can't claim one you aren't actually standing in. Claiming requires a free account.
Claiming keeps a daily streak going, shown on your profile alongside milestone badges for claim count, streak length, and countries visited. Crossing a badge on a claim shows up in that claim's celebration screen.
The leaderboard ranks explorers by raw hexagon count or by largest cluster (your biggest group of mutually-adjacent claimed hexes), filterable by all time, this month, or today. Follow other explorers to build a Following leaderboard ranked against just them. Your Pro Area also lists who follows you and who has looked at your profile.
Beyond claiming, any hex — even one someone else has already claimed or bought — can be bought outright with credits, which immediately transfers it to you. A hex starts at 1 credit and its price rises by 1 credit every time it changes hands, so buying it back later costs more. If your hex gets bought, you keep it in your history but it's no longer yours — the buyer's credits are the trade-off for taking it from you. Credits are purchased with real money and are not refundable once spent or granted. See the Terms of Service for the full policy.
Every account has its own referral link, in Settings under "Refer a friend". Once someone signs up through your link and claims their fifth hex, you're credited 10 free credits automatically. Your referral dashboard shows everyone who's signed up with your link and whether their reward has landed yet.
Claiming in volume on a given day earns bonus credits on top of the hexes themselves: 500 claims in one day earns 5 credits, 1,000 earns 12, and 2,000 earns 25. Each threshold pays out once per day, the moment you cross it.
Standing in a hex someone else has already claimed, you can opt in to check in — this records a visit without affecting their claim, shown as a visit count on the hex and as a "places checked in" log on your own profile.
Set a home location in Settings to get notified — via the bell icon in the header, and optionally as a browser push notification — whenever someone claims or checks in within 2 km of it. Opening the bell shows every notification with its read/unread state; mark one or all as read, and turn nearby-claim and nearby-check-in alerts on or off independently in Settings.
A toggle on the map turns on your device's compass: the map rotates to match the direction you're facing, like a navigation app, instead of staying fixed north-up.
Every account has a public profile page with your stats, rank, badges, recent claims, and check-ins. Passport stamps collect one stamp per town, city, or country you've claimed in, with the date and hex count. Share a link to your profile, or a generated "Stake Card" image summarizing your hexes claimed, countries, and points.
Pro is a paid subscription (£2.50/month or £22.50/year, equivalent to 9 months at the monthly price) that adds a custom color for your claimed hexes on the map, your username shown in bold accent green with a hex mark wherever it appears, 10 free credits every month (120 upfront on the yearly plan) toward buying hexes, and a private Pro Area with your territory and span measured, your rank among other Pro explorers, and exactly who's looked at your hexes, plus lists of who follows you and who's looked at your profile. Join from Settings or the "Go Pro" entry in the account menu; manage or cancel any time from Settings.
Claiming enforces a 2-second cooldown between claims and a check on the implied travel speed between your consecutive claims, to make GPS spoofing and bot abuse harder. See the Terms of Service for the full policy.
